The WFB is a weekly food box subscription program. NFC will source and consolidate food from local producers and deliver boxes to centralized pickup locations on a weekly basis. If you want to know more, just email us at info@nashvillefood.coop!

The WFB is a pilot program demonstrating NFC’s ability to scale up the aggregation and sale of local food. WFB participants will be paying above market rates for the food in their boxes. The payment amount is set with an intentionally built-in support margin to help the enterprise get off its feet without needing to seek additional funding.

Boxes are picked up on Wednesday afternoons from one of three locations, depending on where you would like to pick up the box

We currently have three separate locations across Nashville serving as pickup locations.

TinWings serving west Nashville, Home Church serving east Nashville and a Co-Op member’s home serving south Nashville.

Our goal is relative convenience and flexibility for food pick-ups.

The WFB program will benefit producers by utilizing Coordinated Production Planning (CPP). This collaborative process allows multiple farmers to take part in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program while relieving them of the responsibility of growing everything themselves. By participating with us, farmers are able to expand their customer base while focusing on only the crops that they would like to grow. The WFB program also provides a steady revenue stream for new farmers who may not be able to access the already-saturated farmers markets in Nashville. By offering the WFB program year round, we provide an incentive for farmers to both winterize and extend their growing seasons, resulting in further revenue growth.

The WFB began as the Community Investment Box (CIB) Program began in October 2025 and has run continuously since then. 

The first round of the WFB ran through the end of December 2025 and was restarted in January 2026.  By consolidating produce from multiple local producers, we can guarantee a variety of contents through the end of the year. The long-term goal for the WFB is to develop a year-round program that supplies high-quality food from local producers.

WFB subscriptions are charged weekly: $60 for a small household (1-2 people, 8-10 items).

The purchase of a Weekly Farm Box is an investment in our food, our farmers, and the idea that we can work together to create the food system that we want. Committing to the purchase of a WFB is also committing to our community.

Due to high administrative costs associated with managing this type of model, NFC is not offering variable subscriptions. The subscription is for the full delivery period, with subscribers automatically charged on a weekly basis. If someone is unable to collect a weekly box, we will donate it to a nonprofit for community food use. For participants not interested in subscribing to the WFB for their own use, NFC can also coordinate box donations to other families that are in need.

The Co-op and WFB program is operated entirely by volunteers. Board members have already coordinated with producers to get the program organized. Packing, delivery, and member engagement will be a volunteer effort every week. If you are interested in participating in making the WFB a reality, reach out to our team!

This initiative sets the stage for the Co-op’s future growth. Our long term vision is still to create a retail/brick and mortar grocery store location, but taking this step will allow NFC to demonstrate demand for local products and find support for future growth. Grants and private donors are much more likely to support the expansion of this kind of program over an immediate jump to a store because NFC will be able to demonstrate sufficient member buy-in.

The WFB has been designed to be the next smallest step towards the Co-op’s long-term goals. Through your participation, you will:

• Support local producers in the Nashville area;
• Demonstrate market demand in a way which attracts grant investment;
• Provide NFC feedback on foods in the boxes to help project demand and interest in various products sold at the brick and mortar location;
• Secure your position as a co-op ambassador which has access to future benefits;
• Receive access to detailed financial reports which show how the subscription funding is used by the cooperative;
• Help NFC attract more members through increased exposure and activity; and
• Move the co-op towards the brick and mortar location desired by everyone.

We encourage WFB subscribers to carefully consider if they can commit to the program for 3 months. In the case of unforeseen circumstances, please reach out in order to discuss the cancellation process. The Co-op will maintain a waitlist for the program and will reach out to co-operative members who may be able to take your dedicated spot.

All WFB subscribers will receive monthly updates on the program to ensure all questions are answered in a timely manner.
